GST Filing Deadlines Extended for December 2024 and Q3 FY25

The government has announced an extension of deadlines for filing Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns in FORM GSTR-3B and FORM GSTR-1 for December 2024 and the October-December quarter of FY25.

Revised Deadlines for FORM GSTR-3B

As per the notification issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), the following deadlines now apply:

  • Monthly Filers:
    Deadline: January 22, 2025
    Applicable under sub-section (1) of Section 39 of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
  • Quarterly Filers (October-December 2024):
    • States including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and others: January 24, 2025
    • States including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and others: January 26, 2025

Note: FORM GSTR-3B is a monthly self-declaration form where taxpayers report sales, purchases, tax liability, and input tax credit under GST.

Revised Deadlines for FORM GSTR-1

  • Monthly Filers (December 2024):
    New Deadline: January 13, 2025
  • QRMP Scheme Taxpayers (October-December 2024):
    New Deadline: January 15, 2025

Government’s Support for Taxpayers

This extension aims to provide relief to taxpayers facing technical difficulties and ensure compliance with GST filing requirements.
